IEE S.A. (IEE) has demonstrated inside Yanfeng Automotive Interiors’ (YFAI) new Experience in Motion demonstrator 2020 (XiM20) concept vehicle, an immersive user experience enabled through the sophisticated 3D vision technology combined with the large screen technology.
As autonomous driving and new mobility services transform car travel, the car interior experience will become increasingly important to the consumer. Less time will be needed for driving tasks, so this new living space must offer a variety of use case scenarios through intuitive, interactive and convenient concepts.
One key advancement is the fusion of interior products and sensing technologies to continuously provide a unique and premium user experience. Therefore, YFAI, the world leader in automotive interiors, and IEE, the leading provider of car interior sensing solutions, have partnered to develop joint technologies.
The result is “Active Space” - a revolutionary interactive 3D sensing solution combined with a tailored Human-Machine Interface (HMI) delivery. Active Space is a unique combination of incabin 3D sensing and large surface display technology. It enables an immersive interaction between passengers and their surrounding interior environment for entertainment, communication and ambience. Active Space, implemented in the rear zone of the XiM20, offers secluded comfort where passengers can retreat from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives.
IEE has therefore developed a state-of-the-art 3D high-resolution stereo camera with sophisticated algorithms, offering these unique user experiences and in addition advanced safety features.
“We are looking forward to continuing our strategic partnership with Yanfeng and creating many other innovative sensing solutions in the field of automotive interiors of the future.” says Paul Schockmel, VP Strategy, Innovation and Marketing of IEE.
